NEW YORK AND LONDON’S NUMBERS 5 TEAM UP
29-10-2011 | Portuguese performer, singer and songwriter Claudia Vau is
working on new songs with composer Doio Kaosos, whose music reached
New York’s Classical Chart number 5 this year on Reverbnation, the major
online platform for independent music.
This September, after presenting in Lisbon two songs she created for VOWW -
Voices of Women Worldwide, Claudia moved to London and carried on her
artistic carrier, in both playback theatre and music. Meanwhile, her first single
“Make Your Voice Sound” rose to number 5 on Reverbnation’s London World
Music Chart.
Doio Kaosos has been composing for Claudia and sending her new music to
work on lyrics ever since she arrived in the UK. Now, they're just about ready to
present their collective originals in a series live concerts, which may include
guest musicians and will have an unique performative component.
Recently, on October the 17th, Claudia Vau had her first performance in the UK
with the London Playback Theatre company, at prestigious Southbank Centre's
Royal Festival Hall.
CLAUDIA VAU’S BIO
Claudia Vau is a London-based actress, singer and songwriter. She started to
write, compose and sing her own songs for a cause: to give voice to voiceless
women, young girls, children and men from all around the world. Her first
single, "Make Your Voice Sound" is a theme-song which expresses the
mission of an international network that promotes Women's Rights and
Gender Equality (VOWW - Voices of Women Worldwide).
As a playback theatre performer, Claudia Vau became accustomed to the
improvisational enactment of true stories through Theatre and Music. With this
background, her singing cannot be set aside from expressive interpretation
movement, for she feels she must embody Music in order to genuinely create
and perform it.
Working with musicians and composers such as Doio Kaosos, Nanu
Figueiredo (Mola Dudle) and Alvaro M. Rocha in her songs for VOWW
contributed to her World Music jam esthetics, where Claudia’s vibrant contralto
voice reaches out to you from inspiring musical environments that combine
electric and acoustic instruments, ranging from classical to ethnical, such as
the Portuguese guitar and the Chinese violin (Erhu).
